The Red Bluff High School product led Feather River College his sophomore season, batting a team high .392 for the Golden Eagles. Earning all-conference honors, Austin also led his team in runs scored (53) and stolen bases (24) as Feather River finished the season 35-8. Austin had 10 doubles, three triples and two homers, finishing with a .483 on base percentage. As a freshman in 2018, Austin was also named to the Golden Valley Conference All-Conference team, batting .359 with 16 stolen bases in 17 attempts.
