SIGN-UP NOW! 2020 Colt 45s Baseball Academy is on!

Restrictions have been listed and the camp will begin July 6, 2020

Baseball is back at Tiger Field with the inaugural Redding Colt 45s Baseball Academy.

With the City of Redding Parks and Recreation providing safety guidelines and approval for other activities, the decision has been made to open the Academy to youngsters ages 9-14, beginning July 6.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have approval to move forward with our first-ever academy of this depth and quality,” said Colt 45s GM Rick Bosetti. “Your young men and women will be able to come out here and learn how to play some baseball from our professional coaching staff.”

Under the tutelage and direction of former professional baseball player and current Colt 45s manager Berek Fasking, the Academy will be held Monday and Tuesday for six weeks, beginning July 6 and ending with game sessions August 10-11.

“We will divide the players into small groups according to age and ability and focus on individual as well as group instruction on throwing, hitting, baserunning, pitching, infield, outfield, catching, bunting, and philosophy/approach,” Fasking said. “Each player will be worked with individually during their time at the academy in a small group format.”

Sessions at Historic Tiger Field will be held Monday and Tuesday, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and will include breaks throughout each day to keep the players fresh. All players and staff will be encouraged to follow Covid-19 safety guidelines, including washing hands and safe distancing. In keeping with those guidelines, water will be provided but players must bring their own snacks and drinking containers.

The cost of the Colt 45s Baseball Academy is $500.00, pre-paid, per youngster. Registration is limited to the first 100 signups and will close once those slots are filled. A $125 deposit is due at the time of registration. The balance is due by the start of camp, July 6.

Pre-registration is required and available on-line at www.reddingcolt45s.com. More information can also be found on the team’s Facebook page. Fans may also register on-line and then make payment by check, payable to Redding Colt 45s Inc., and mailed to 1471 Arroyo Manor Drive, Redding, CA, 96003.

“The final two weeks we will divide players into teams and have competitions that will allow them to apply the fundamentals that they have learned throughout the academy,” Fasking said. “There will be individual competitions with prizes as well as team competitions that parents are welcome to attend, depending on the guidelines in place for larger groups.”

The Academy staff, led by Fasking, will include current Colt 45s coaches and guest instructors. Training and games will be held at Historic Tiger Field. Players are required to provide their own gloves, appropriate shoes or cleats and baseball attire.
