Colt 45s and Rosebuds split opening series

Visiting Santa Rosa tops Redding 9-5 on Memorial Day

Redding couldn’t overcome a productive Santa Rosa lineup, dropping their first game of the season 9-5 at Tiger Field. The visiting Rosebuds scored in four of the first five innings and never trailed the Colt 45s, (1-1), to earn a split of the rain-shortened series.

Austin Youngblood was 2-4 with one RBI to lead the Colt 45s, who managed just seven hits. Jordan Akins drove in two runs for Redding. Kyle Schroedle (0-1) started his first game for the Colt 45s, allowing five runs and five hits in four innings.

The season-opening Memorial Day weekend comes to a close at Tiger Field Monday night at 7:15 p.m. as the Colt 45s entertain the Redding Ringtails. The night is Carr and Camp Fire Thank You First Responders Night, gates open at 6:30 p.m.
